"New York City is a city born from hopes and aspirations. It is, arguably, the global driver of fashion, arts, and societal trends. A city of multiple personalities, New York’s neighborhoods and people move in perpetual motion, influencing the lives of others and the world around them. Its intrinsic character encourages and embraces diversity, creativity and ingenuity.
To enlighten my vision for this project, I observed New Yorkers, their lives, routines and habits and felt the energetic dimension of life in it’s fullest. It’s no wonder that such greatness has been birthed from this urban sprawl.
New York Synchronicity is a photomontage of over 400 photographs, chosen from thousands, taken at different times and days on the streets of Manhattan. Through the process, I selected those that best depicted the city, respecting its legendary past and evolving presence. I joined the images in digital format, layering and blending them together. In creating this piece, I developed a love for this magnanimous and global city and a deep respect for its incredible functionality.
From the waters of the Hudson, to Central Park and its iconic skyline, New York City is recognized internationally for its urban aesthetic, cultural influence and impassioned sense of community."
Deluxe edition on Dibond (an aluminum substrate) Edition size: 10
Each print is signed and numbered by the artist.

Photography is my means to create; where life is stilled in an instant, when a moment’s time finds expression. The city is my studio, my canvas, a complex urban art project waiting to be discovered. I am a fine art street photographer, and I live in the heart of Chicago. With its rich culture and diversity, I find the ever-changing environment ripe with opportunity and unlimited creative choice. As I venture out, camera in hand, I never know what might inspire me next. I'm drawn to the intermix of shadow and light, and abstract photography as an art form. My images are open to interpretation, and to the imagination of the viewer. My hope is that through the obscure and undetectable, by personal impression, one might find what is looking to be found in my images. My subjects are varied. I’m drawn to people, as they are my focus and my main subject in the cityscape photomontages that I create. Even though I’ve connected with each of them through the lens of my camera, as I work on a project, I find myself wondering who they are, what their lives are all about, what are their habits are and what it would be like to meet them. I also shoot architecture, design and reflections, all of which are plentiful in and around the city. I first begin with a concept. I often select several photographs and blend them together, digitally layering several images until the image takes on a life of it’s own. From a technical standpoint, working with digital images allows me to experiment and explore in the process, to contemplate as I work until what I see evokes the right feel and I know it’s time to stop. It is then I realize why this image needed to be. |
